1.INVENTION OF "HELLO"
ALEXANDER GRAHAM BELL invented the telephone but THOMAS EDISON
coined the greeting.
"Over at the laboratories of Edison’s rival, Bell was insisting on “Ahoy!” as the correct way to answer the telephone. “Hello,” however became the standard as the first telephone exchanges, equipped by Edison, were set up across the United States and operating manuals adopted the word.” The first public exchange, opened in New Haven on Jan. 28, 1878, wavered between "hello" and the fusty "What is wanted?" in its manual. By 1880, "hello" had won out.
2. 'HIGH FIVES' didn’t exist until 1977 in the baseball game involving Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

7. JOHN HARVEY KELLOG invented the CORN FLAKES. It was invented to stop masturbation. Like Graham Crackers and Granola, cornflakes was designed to avoid inflaming the sexual appetite. At that time, they were not sweetened with sugar. Kellogg believed that sugar was unhealthy and associated with vice and degeneracy.”
8. James Russell, an American Physicist invented the COMPACT DISC in 1965. However, the compact disc did not become popular until it was mass manufactured by Philips Electronics in 1980.
9. Otto Frederick Rohwedder of Davenport, Iowa, USA invented the SLICED BREAD MACHINE in 1928 and the machine was first used commercially by Chillicothe Baking Company of Chillicothe, Missouri, which produced their first slices on July 7, 1928. Their product was known as "Kleen Maid Sliced Bread
10. While the first record of patented FIRE EXTINGUISHER was in 1723 by Ambrose Godfrey, the modern FIRE EXTINGUISHER was invented by British Captain George William Manby in 1818. It consisted of a copper vessel of 3 gallons (13.6 litres) of pearl ash (potassium carbonate) solution contained within compressed air.
