Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan donate $75million to San Francisco General Hospital

In what is now the single highest donation to a public hospital in the United states history, Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg and wife, Priscilla Chan have donated $75million dollars to the General Hospital of San Francisco.

The facility will be renamed Priscilla and Mark Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma center.

While the donation might be a public one, it does definitely have a personal underlining. Zuckerberg's wife Priscilla previously did her pediatric residency in the hospital, working there for years. In a statement through their foundation, she said, "Day in day out, i witness the compassion and dedication of my colleagues as they worked tirelessly to deliver the best available care to all of our patients. Mark and I are proud to support such an important hospital."

The hospital is in the process of building a nine-storey 453,000 square-foot main hospital as well as a trauma center, and is scheduled to be opened in December.

Definitely a kind act from the couple.
